When I finished reading Shakespeare's Tempest, Prospero's monologue at the end of the play got me thinking, so I created a monologue from Prospero at the beginning of the play, suggesting the ending and responding to the monologue at the end.
Enter Ariel and Prospero.
Ariel on to the stage with a book
Ariel: All hail, honorable master!
The book is bringing to here
Abide by your command
Prospero: My brave spirit!
Give it to me,
And go out of here
Ariel step down
Prospero open the book.
Prospero: Book, the source of all magic
The signs【1】 from the heaven
The source of all desires
It shows the past, now, future
Let traitors die in Aceldama【2】, and give bliss to the good
Dear the book
There is a sinner awaiting your judgment
Dear Lord, please bless me
Lead the lost ship to its direction——come hither
A vicious fire
Was burning on the ship
Spread out on the sea
Let the flames of vengeance——
That have tormented me thousands of days and nights
Burning again
Let the tempest quench the fire
Let the ship——
To be swallowed by the raging sea, or to
Give a new life to the people on it
Reflect their lost self like a mirror
Lead it here
Under the dark sky; A rough sea
The tempest will wash away the SINS【3】 of Judah
The tempest ——
Will calm all this down
The rainbow will appear at the end of the storm
A dazzling light came out of the book.
【1】signs:Here it means the miracle
【2】Aceldama:The place where Judas died
【3】SINS:Seven Deadly Sins
This scene is set before Act 1, Scene1. As the opening of the series, it tells the story of Prospero 's inner struggle as he uses his magic to create a storm. Is it revenge or forgiveness? Prospero 's narration is like the one at the end of the Tempest, echoing from beginning to end. Prospero intends to use the tempest to bring the traitors' ships to the island, but it is not clear whether to let them die at sea or let them find out who they are in the tempest. There is a metaphor at the end, which foreshadows a happy ending.
(In this scene, Prospero first says " Let traitors die in Aceldama【2】, and give bliss to the good "and then" Dear Lord, please bless me". He thinks he is the good side, but is he really? This is also worth thinking about while reading.)
